Eria Myers presented on the impact of the racism on APNHPI youth which is part of an ongoing history of bullying and name-calling that our children experience . The COVID incidences brought them to the attention of public media. She encouraged parents to actively engage and listen to their kids as part of the needed healing process.Last, but not least, former board member, Cat Shieh spoke on the impact of racism and hate giving many constructive, concrete examples of how we can respond. She encouraged taking Bystander Intervention Trainings so one can be prepared to act in a safe manner. Later she gave an excellent explanation of the model minority myth pushed on AANHPI and MENAs and how it is detrimental to us, as well as pitting us against other people of color.
