Causes Count Report

At their annual conference on August 1, 2014, CALNonprofits presented their groundbreaking work, “Causes Count – The Economic Power of California’s Nonprofit Sector.”  PACS and many other API nonprofits from Los Angeles County were there to listen, learn and speak up.

 Consider that in California:

  • There are 72,478 nonprofits that are 501(c) (3) s.
  • Nonprofits contribute $37 billion in taxes.
  • 6% of employees in the state work for nonprofits, making it the fourth largest employer.  That’s 1 million people.
